ORDINANCE NO. 311
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REDISTRICTING OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN AS PROVIDED BY SECTION-12, ARTICLE LL OF THE CHARTER
® OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWNX AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. 1
WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Baytown) under Section 12, Article
II, provides that the City shall be divided into six (6) districts according
to population for election purposes, and
WHEREAS, the City Council heretofore has prW.ided for six (6) districts
within the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS, the enactment of Ordinance No'. 235a and 237a, passed by the City
Council on �he second and final readings,August 25, 1955 and September 22, 1955, i
respectively, annexed certain territory to the City; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable at this time that the-said city be redistricted
• ao.as to provide for this newly annexed territory,)
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BA'YTOWN:
Section 1: THAT the City of Baytown be hereby divided /by the City Council of
the City of Baytown into six (6) election districts as follows:
Section 2: THAT Districts No. 1, 2 and 6 boundary lines remain the same as
set forth in Ordinance No. 257 passed by the City Council January 6, 1955.
Section 3: THAT Districts No. 3, 4 and 5 boundary lines be amended to read
as follows:
District No. 3
BEGINNING at Southern Pacific Railroad and center of Oak Street;
Thence South on center of Oak Street to center of Riggs Street;
• Thence East on center of Riggs Street to center of Elm Street;
Thence South on center of Elm Street to center of West Main;
Thence Southeasterly on center of Lee Drive to and across Highway 146
to a point 200 feet South of Highway 146;
Thence 200 feet South of Highway 146 curving Northeasterly continuing
200 feet South of Highway 146 to center of county ditch at a point
200 feet Southeast of Highway 146;
Thence in a'-Northwesterly direction to the center line of Highway 146;
Thence in a Northeasterly direction on center line of State Highway 146
to the center line of East Texas Avenue;
Thence in a Northwesterly direction on center line of East Texas Avenue to
center line of South Main;
Thence in a Southwesterly direction on center line of South Main Street to
center line of county drain ditch;
Then follow center line of county drain ditch Westerly until intersection
with Southern Pacific Railroad;
Thence along Railroad to point of BEGINNING.
District No. 4
.BEGINNING at center line of State Highway 146;
® Thence in a Southeasterly direction on center line of drain ditch across
the Tri -City Beach Road.following the most Southerly boundary line of
Roseland Oaks Subdivision to Cedar Bayou Stream;
Thence in a Northeasterly direction along the meanders of Cedar Bayou Stream
to the most Northerly line of the Cedar Bayou Methodist Church property line;
Thence in a Westerly direction on center line of'the Cedar Bayou Methodist
Church Tract and the Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge common boundary line to cross
over Ferry Road following the center line of Ponds Gully and a county drain
ditch to the West right -of -way line of the McKinney County Road;
Thence North with the West boundary line of the said McKinney County Road
approximately two hundred (200') feet more or less, to a point where the
Southeasterly right -of -way line of State Highway 146 intersects the West
right -of -way line of the McKinney County Road;
Thence in a Southwesterly direction with said Southeasterly boundary line of
State Highway 146 to the point of BEGINNING.
District No. 5

BEGINNING at the center line of North Main Street and East Texas Avenue
intersection;
Thence northeast and North along center line of North Main Street to and
across Bob Smith Road to a point 100 feet North of Bob Smith Road;
Thence East from a point 100 feet North of Bob Smith Road following the
�r 100 foot North of Bob Smith Road to a point 100 feet N.orth-:.of ::intersection
of Bob Smith Road and Highway 146;
Thence Southwest from 100 feet North of Bob Smith Road and across Highway
146 following the East side of Highway 146 to intersection of Highway 146
and East Texas Avenue;
Thence West along the center line of East Texas Avenue to the point of
BEGINNING.
Section 4: THAT this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after
its passage and-,that the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish the caption
• of the Ordinance once in the official newspaper of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of a majority of the
City Council this the 9th day of February, A. D., 1956.
