AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE DEPARTMENT OF Er1G=ING FOR
THE CITY OF BAYTOvIN; PROVIDING FOR THE QUALIFICATIONS
OF THE HEAD OF SUCH DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR THE PCIMS
AND DUTIES OF SUCH DEPARTMENT HEAD; AND PROVIDING FOR
THE FFFECTnr DATE HF:RF"OF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTM, TEXAS:
SECTION l: That there is hereby created the Department of Engineering
for the City of Baytown, the head of such shall be the City Engineer, who shall
be-appointed by the City Manager, subject to the approval of the City
Council.
SECTION 2: The City Engineer shall be a licensed professional engineer,
• duly registered under the engineering act of Texas.
SECTION 3: The City Engineer shall be the chief adviser of the Council,
of all offices, departments and agencies and of all officers and employees
in engineering matters relating to their official powers and duties. It shall
be his duty to perform all services indident to his position.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect from and after the date
of September 30, 1955.
