AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX RATE AND TAX LEVY FOR THE CITY OF
BAYTOWiN, TEXAS, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1954,
UPON ALL TAXAPLE PROPERTY IN SAID CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, IN IT
CONFORMITY WITH THE LAWS 'OF TEXAS AND THE CHARTER PROVISIONS
AND THE ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
SECTION 1: THAT there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year ending September 30, 1954, an ad valorem tax of One
Dollarr 4nd.Sd�,enty -Two Cents ($1.72) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100) worth of
property located within the present city limits of the City of Baytown as of
January 1, 1953, made taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall be
apportioned among the funds and departments of the city government of the City of
Baytown and for the purposes hereinafter set forth as follows, to -wit:
For the General Fund

For the purpose of paying the
accruing interest and to provide a
sinking fund for the payment of the
bonded indebtedness of the City of
Baytown .22
SECTION 2: The ad valorem tax rate of One Dollar and Seventy -Two Cents ($1.72)
as set forth in Section 1, above, is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected
on only Fifty (50 %) per cent of each One Hundred (;$100) Dollars worth of property
located within Baytown as valued by the Equalization Board for the City of Baytown,
and made taxable by law.
SECTION 3: The City Tax Assessor and Collector of the City of Baytown is
hereby directed to assess, extend and enter upon the tax rolls of the City of Baytown,
Texas, for the current taxable year, the amounts and rates herein levied, and to keep
a correct account of same, andwhen so collected, the same to be deposited in the
depository of the City of Baytown, to be distributed in accordance with this ordinance.
SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
expressly repealed.
READ, ADOPTED, and APPROVED by the affirmative vote of a majority of the City
Council of the City of Baytown, at a regular meeting held at the City Hall on the
10th day of September, A. D., 1953.
