Ordinance No. 144ORDINANCE NO. 144 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS ($478,000.00) FOR THE ® PURPOSE OF MAKING CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SANITARY SEWER AND WATERWORKS SYSTEMS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: PRO VIDING THAT PROPER APPROPRIATION ORDINANCES, CONTRACTS, AND OTHER PROVISIONS OF LAW SHALL:'BE FOLLOWED; AND PRO- VIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, it is common knowledge that the Sanitary Sewer and Waterworks systems of the City of Baytown are not only grossly inadequate, but much of the present facilities function improperly if at all; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown is anxious to correct this situation and has made attempts to do so; and WHEREAS, it is believed that a majority of the citizens of the City of Bay- town prefer to have these improvements made on a pay -as- you -go basis; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1: THAT the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby authorizes and directs the expenditure, from present and future surpluses, of Four Hundred Seventy -Eight Thousand Dollars ($478,000.00) as follows, to -wit: SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS Sewage Disposal Plant to be located on the Baytown - Pelly Road Goose Creek Bridge $ 206,800.00 Eliminate Lift Station - -North of W. Main and end of Utah Street 162200.00 Connect Pelly 52800.00 Construction of main trunk line from Morrell Park to the new disposal site along Goose Creek Stream 60,000.00 Engineering Fee 17,200,00 • Total Cost $ 306,000.00 WATERWORKS IMPROVEMENTS 1000 G. P. M. Well and Pump Pump House Auxiliary Engines Connecting Piping 250,000 Gal. Steel Surface Storage Tank 400,000 Gal. Steel Elevated Storage Tank 3,500 Line Ft. 81" Line Land • Engineering Fee Total Cost $ 1721000.00 Grand Total $ 178,000.00 Section 2: THAT the City Council of the City of Baytown directs that all transfers of funds, whether from present or( future surplus funds, shall be made by proper and valid appropriation ordinances and that all work let to private persons or concerns in amounts exceeding Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) shall be executed by contract and bidding procedure pursuant to Section 75 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, and that all applicable law governing expenditures shall be followed. Section 3: THAT this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by a majority of the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
