Ordinance No. 142n u ORDINANCE NO. 142 ORDINANCE CANVASSING RETURNS AND DE- CLARING RESULTS OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF HARRIS; The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, convened in session at the City Hall within said City on the _� day of s::.a 1952, with -the following members present, to -wit: .T. RPPirPS Councilman, District 6 Mrs. Edna Oliver Cityi'Clerk when the following business was transacted: The Mayor introduced an ordinance which was read in full. Councilman u_ m_ f'amnhall made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read. The ordinance thus adopted follows: ORDINANCE CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF SPECIAL BOND ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ON APRIL 26, 1952 WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 26th day of April, 1952, an election at which was submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said City who own tax- able property within said City and who had duly rendered the same for taxation the following propositions, to -wit: 71 n LJ and 1� PROPOSITION NO. ONE SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF"BAYTOWN BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE THE BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ( 480,000.00), MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN FORTY (40) YEARS FROM THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE'NOT TO EXCEED FOUR AND ONE -HALF PER CENT (4 -1/2%) PER ANNUM, FOR THE PUR- POSE OF IMPROVING, ENLARGING AND EXTENDING THE CITY'S EXISTING SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, AND TO LEVY AN ANNUAL TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AS IT ACCRUES AND TO CREATE A SINKING FUND'FOR THE REDEMPTION OF SAID BONDS AS THEY MA- TURE. PROPOSITION NO. TWO SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE THE BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE THOU- SAND DOLLARS ($525,000.00), MATURING SERIALLY WITH- IN FORTY (40) YEARS FROM THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE NOT TO EXCEED FOUR AND ONE -HALF PER CENT (4 -1/2%) PER ANNUM, FOR THE PUR- POSE OF IMPROVING, ENLARGING AND EXTENDING THE CITY'S EXISTING WATERWORKS SYSTEM, AND TO LEVY AN ANNUAL TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AS IT ACCRUES AND TO CREATE A SINKING FUND FOR THE REDEMPTION OF SAID BONDS AS THEY MATURE; WHEREAS, there were cast at said election 2,295 votes, of which number there were cast: PROPOSITION NO. ONE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $480,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM BONDS - AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $480,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM BONDS MAJORITY AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $480,000 SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM BONDS PROPOSITION NO. TWO FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $525,000 WATERWORKS SYSTEM BONDS AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $525,000 WATERWORKS SYSTEM BONDS MAJORITY AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $525,000 WATERWORKS SYSTEM BONDS -2- 873 votes 1,422 votes 549 votes 839 votes 1,449 votes 610 votes r as shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to this City Council and filed with the City Clerk; Therefore BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Baytown: That said election was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was held in the manner required by law; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that said election has resulted unfavor- ably to the issuance of the bonds described in each of said prop - ositions and that a majority of the qualified voters voting at said election have voted against the issuance of the bonds de- scribed in each of said propositions.
