Ordinance No. 140ORDINANCE NO. 1110 ® AN ORDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 26TH DAY OF APRIL, 1952, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT NO. 5; PROVIDING FOR ELECTION OFFICERS, DESIGNATING THE PIACES AND MANNER OF HOIDING SAID ELECTION, PRESCRIBING THE HOURS AND PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING AND PUBLICATION OF NOTICE. WHEREAS, on the is t day of April, 1952, the regular municipal election of the City of Baytown was held in said city for the purpose of electing three councilmen from the respective Districts Nos. 1, 4 and 5, and the returns of said election having canvassed said returns and determined the results of said election on this the 9th day of April, 1952, and WHEREAS, it is determined from the canvassing of said returns that no candidate for councilman from District No. 5 received a majority of the votes cast at the • regular election for the office for which he was a candidate, and accordingly, pursuant to Section 94 of Article IX of the Charter of the City of Baytown, it is the duty of the City Council to order a special election for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the qualified voters of said city the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes at the regular election for the office of councilman from District No. 5 in order that the voters may designate and elect one of the two candidates from said District No. 5 as councilman of said district; and WHEREAS, as set out in the Resolution this day passed by the City Council of the City of Baytown, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for said office.-:-are as follows: DISTRICT NO. 5 • Willie Dearmon Reeves W. Boucher NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOVN: SECTION 1: THAT a special election of the City of Baytown, as provided in Section 94, Article IX of the Charter of said City, shall be held between the hours of 71o'clock a. m. and 7 o'clock p. m. on the 26th day of April, 1952 in said City for the purpose of electing a councilman from District No. 5 from the candidates listed as follows: For Councilman from District No. 5: Willie Dearmon Reeves W.
