ORDINANCE CALLING SPECIAL BOND ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS 0 COUNTY OF HARRIS l) The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, convened in regular session at the City Hall within said City on the 28th day of February, 1952, with the follOw- ing members present, to -wit: J. Pruett Councilman District No. 6 hers. Edna Oliver City Clerk is when the following business was transacted: The Mayor introduced an ordinance which was read in full. Councilman M. L. Campbell made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Councilman Pruett and :.cdrriedcby the following vote: AYES: Mayor Ward, Councilmen Buelow, Bergeron, M. L. Campbell and Pruett. NOES: Councilman Reeves. The ordinance thur adopted follows: ORDINANCE CALLING SPECIAL BOND ELECTION BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Baytown: Section 1: That a special election shall be held in and throughout the City of Baytown, Texas, on the lstaday of April, 1952, at which election there shall be submitted to the fuly qualified resident elect6rs of said City who own taxable property within said City and who have duly rendered the same for taxation, for their action thereupon, the following propositions, to -wit: PROPOSITION NO. ONE SHALL TIC CITY COUNCIL OF TIIE CITY OF BAYTUVN BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE THE BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF FOUR HUNDRED WITHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($480,000.00), MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN FORTY (40) YEARS FROM THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE NOT TO EXCEED FOUR AND ONE -HALF PER CENT (42 %) PER ANNUM. FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING, ENLARGING AND ECTENDIIdG THE CITY'S EXISTING SANITARY SIf SYSTEM, AND TO LEVY AN ANNUAL TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AS IT ACCRUES AND TO CREATE A SINKING FUND FOR THE REDEMPTION OF SAID BONDS AS THEY MATURE. PROPOSITION NO. TWO SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN BE AUTHCIIZED TO ISSUE THE BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($525,000.00), MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN FORTH (40) YEARS FROM TIIEIR DATE OR DATES, ABD� BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE NOT TO EXCEED FOUR AND ONE -HALF PER CENT (4Z %) PER ANNUM, FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING, ENLARGING AND EXTENDING THE CITY'S EXISTING I4ATERWORKS SYSTEM. Hinton Clerk Polling.-Place Franta Motor Company Wilkenfeld's Furniture Company City Hall Mexican Recreation Hall Section 3: That the ballots for said election shall conform to the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Election Code of the State of Texas, Chapter 492, Acts of the 52nd Legislature of Texas, 1951,so far as applicable, and, in addition to the require- ments of said Chapter 6, shall have printed thereon the following: OFFICIAL BALLOT PROPOSITION NO. ONE FOR TITS ISSUANCE OF $480,000. SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM BONDS AGAINST THE ISSURANCE OF $480,000 SANITARY SFdER SYSTEM BONDS PROPOSITION N0. TWO FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $25,000 VIATERWORKS SYSTEM BONDS AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $525,000 WATERWORKS SYSTEM BONDS Each voter shall mark out one of the above expressions on each proposition, thus leaving the other as indicating his vote on such proposition. Section 4: That said election shall be held in accordance with the Constitution and general lairs of the State of Texas and only duly qualified resident electors of said City who own taxable property within said City and who have duly rendered the same for taxation shall be qualified to vote. -2- Section 5: That notice of said election shall be given by posting a copy of a notice containing a substantial copy of this ordinance at the City Hall and in each of the election precincts of the City not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the date on which said election is to be held, and by publication thereof on the same day in each of two successive weeks in a newspaper published in the English language and of general circulation within said City, the first of said publications to be made not later than fourteen (14) days prior to the date set for said election.
