ORDINANCE NO. 121
AN ORDINANCE GRANTING ANY CITY EMPLOYEE A FIFTEEN (15)
DAY LEAVE OF ABSENCE ONCE EACH YEAR IF SAID ErfiPOYEE
PARTICIPATED 114 CERTAIN MILITARY TRAINING PROGRAMS OF
THE UNITES STATES; PROVIDING PAY FOR ANY SUCH LEAVE OF
ABSENCE; PROVIDING THAT SUCH LEAVE OF ABSENCE SHALL BE
ADDITION TO THE VACATION OF ANY EMPLOYEE; N11ii] PRO-
VIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.

V1HE,REAS, a number of the employees of the City of Baytown are members
of the Reserve of the various branches of the United States Military Services;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown believes that it should
encourage the City's employees to participate inour Nationas. Military Prepardnesa
Program;
NOIV, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: Definition THAT the term "Military Service" shall be held to mean
and include the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard,Marine Corps,
National Guard and/ or Auxiliary Units thereof.
Section 2: Leave of Absence. THAT any employee of the City of Baytown who
has vo rked for said City at leastiI-one year, shall be granted a fifteen (15) day
leave of absence its order to participate in any of the reserve programs of the
United States Military Services. This leave of absence shall be in addition to
any vacation time that an employee may be entitled to.
Section 3. Compensation while on leave of Absence. THAT an employee shall
not be entitled to compensation from the City of Baytown for any such Leave of
Absence granted, unless his Military pay during such leave of absence is less thaii
the compensation he would have received from the City of Baytown during the same
period of time.
THAT if any employee's Military pay is less than his City of Baytown base
compensation, then such employee shall receive the difference between the two sums
when any such city employee shall present to the City manager evidence of his
military pay.
Section 4. THAT this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage
by a majority of the City Council of the City of Baytown, and shall be retroactive
to:, and including, Janua y 1, 1951.

City Council of the City of Baytovm on this 23rd day of August,A. D., 1951.
