Ordinance No. 77ORDINANCE NO. 77 AN CRDINANCE ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HEIR • ON THE 29TH DAY OF APRIL, 1950, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING r_"TW0 (2) COUNCIINEN FROM THE RESPECTIVE. DISTRICTS NOS. 4 AND 5;; PROVIDING FOR ELECTION OFFI- CERS, DESIGNATING THE PLACES AND MANNER. OF HOIDING SAID ELECTION, PRESCRIBING THE HOURS AND PROVIDING FOR THE POSTING AND PUBLICATION OF NOTICE. WHEREAS, on the lath day of April, 1950, the regular municipal election of the City of Baytovm was held in said city for the purpose of electing three councilmen from the respective Districts Nos. 1, 4 and 5, and the re- turns of said election having been duly made by the election officials and the City Council having canvassed said returns and determined the results of said election on this the 12th day of April, 1950, and WHEREAS, it is determined from the canvassing of said returns that no • candidate for councilman from District No. 4 and no candidate for council- man from District No. 5 received a majority of the votes cast at the regular election for the office for which he was a candidate, and accordingly, pur- suant to Section 94 of Article IX of the Charter of the City of Baytown, it is the duty of the City Council to order a special election for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the qualified voters of said city the names of the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes at the regular election for the office of councilman from the respective Districts Nos. 4 and 5 in order that the voters may designate and elect one of the two can- didates from each of the said Districts Nos. 4 and 5 as councilman from his respective district; and WHEREAS, as set out in the Resolution this day passed by the City Coun- cil of the City of Baytown, the two candidates from each of the districts in question receiving the highest number of votes for said office are as follows: District No, 4 Milton L. City, shall be held between the hours of 7 o'clock A. M. and 701clock P.
