2018 08 23 WS Minutes, Special MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN AUGUST 23, 2018 The quorum of City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas attended an City of Baytown event on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at 4:30 P.M., in the Emergency Management Center, 201 Wye Drove, Baytown, Texas, 77521, with the following in attendance: Robert Hoskins Council Member Charles Johnson Council Member David Himsel Council Member Heather Betancourth Council Member Stephen H. DonCarlos Mayor Rick Davis City Manager Leticia Brysch City Clerk The August 23, 2018, event to recognize the Baytown Fire Department's Insurance Service Office(ISO) I Classification, and to rename the Baytown Emergency Operations Center in honor of Assistant Fire Chief Bernard Olive, Jr., commenced at 4:30 P.M. with the following quorum, all members were present with the exception of Council Members Alvarado and Presley. Fire Chief Kenneth Dobson welcomed the attendees and recognized the members of the City Council and Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District present. Chief Dobson introduced former Baytown Fire Chief Shon Blake and former Baytown City Manager Robert D. Leiper and thanked them both for their vision and support of the ISO I endeavor; both gentlemen made general comments on this item. Chief Dobson directed the attendees to the outside of the building in order to complete the renaming ceremony of the building in honor of Assistant Fire Chief Bernard Olive, Jr., who passed away earlier in the year. Mayor DonCarlos spoke briefly about Chief Olive's many years of service and how appropriate that the EOC would be named after him considering his many years of service and support for the City and its surrounding partners, for emergency management preparedness, response and coordination.
