CC Resolution No. 2067RESOLUTION NO. 2067 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF JUNE AS FAIR HOUSING MONTH FOR THE CITY OF BAYTOWN AND DESIGNATING A FAIR HOUSING OFFICER FOR PURPOSES OF THE CDBG-IKE DISASTER RECOVERY GRANT PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. #####rt#Y##4#4#4#4#44#44###################4{#4{44#44{#4##############rt####{### BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby proclaims the month of June as Fair Housing Month for the City of Baytown and authorizes the Mayor to issue the proclamation, which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein for all intents and purposes. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas hereby designates David Baker of Public Management, Inc., Project Administrator for the CDBG-Ike Disaster Recovery Grant Program, as the Fair Housing Officer for purposes of such Program. Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown. IA01V WHEREAS, the passage of the U.S. Fair Housing Laws, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended, established the right to equal housing opportunities for all citizens; and WHEREAS, this law guarantees that housing throughout the United States should be made available to all citizens without regard to race, color, religion, sex family status, handicapping conditions or national origin; and WHEREAS, citizens in our community should continue to work together to uphold the Fair Housing Law and the principle of equal opportunity on which it is based; and WHEREAS, barriers which diminish the rights and limit the options of any citizenwill ultimately diminish the rights and limit the options of all; and WHEREAS, we must, as individuals and as a people, take a stand to endure equal opportunity for all, including equal opportunity in housing, which has become a reality in our community, NOW, THEREFORE, I, Stephen DonCarlos, Mayor of the City of Baytown, do hereby proclaim June 2010 as FAIR HOUSING MONTH, in Baytown and urge all citizens to voice their support of legislation to make the dream of human dignity, equal justice, and equal opportunity a reality. .fin witness tvf ereol g l aoe liereunlo sel my luno( anri caused this seallo 6e affzetl Alesl:
