CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXA-
TION OF -CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 2.4 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID.
TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN," PROVIDING FOR THE FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID ORDINANCE
PURSUANT TO ARTICLE I, SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That pursuant to Article 1, Section 9,of the City Charter,
said Ordinance No. 796, introduced to the City Council of the City of Baytown,
on the 25th day of May, 1966, in its original form shall read as follows:
ORDINANCE NO. 796
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY
CONSISTING OF 2.4 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO
AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown,
Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard
on the proposed annexation of the following described territory, to -wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown,
said point being more fully described as a point on the Easterly right-of-
way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10,555.34 feet
North of the intersection of the South right-of-way line of State Highway
No. 73 (Interstate Highway No. 10) and the Southeasterly right-of-way line
of the Southern Pacific Railroad;
THENCE, in a Northerly direction along the Easterly right-of-way line of
the Southern Pacific Railroad a distance of 3,590 feet to a point which is
10 feet North of the Southeasterly right-of-way line of State Farm Market
Highway 1942. The 10 feet being measured perpendicular.to the Southeast-
erly right-of-way line;
THENCE, Southwesterly and Westerly, 10 feet from and parallel to the South
right-of-way line of State Farm Market Highway 1942, a distance of 6,970
feet to a point for corner;
THENCE, in a Southerly direction a distance of 10 feet to a point on the
South right-of-way line of State Farm Market Highway 1942 for corner;
THENCE, in an Easterly and Northeasterly direction along the South right-
of-way line of State Farm Market Highway 1942, a distance of 6,960 feet to'
a point 10 feet West of the Easterly right-of-way line of the Southern
Pacific Railroad, the 10 feet being measured perpendicular to the Easterly
right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad;
THENCE, in a Southerly direction, 10 feet from and parallel to the Easterly
right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 3,580
feet to a point on the existing City limit line for corner;
THENCE, in an Easterly direction along the existing City limit line, a
distance of 10 feet to the Easterly right-of-way line of the Southern
Pacific Railroad, and the,POINT OF BEGINNING.
was held at 6:30 o'clock p.m: in the City Council Chamber of the City Halloof the.
City of Baytown, Texas, on the 12th.day of May, 1966, which date.is not more than
twenty days nor less than ten days prior to the institution of annexation pro-
ceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper
having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described
territory on the 2nd day of May, 1966, which date is not more than twenty nor less
than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas., on the
first day of January, 1966, was 15,169.85 acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is 38,423
inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial
jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins
the City of Baytown, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 2.4 acres; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: The following described land and territory lying adjacent'
to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the
City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall here-
after be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and
the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the
area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area
within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown,
said point being more fully described as a point on the Easterly right-of-
way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10,555.34 feet
North of the intersection of the South right-of-way line of State Highway

of the Southern Pacific Railroad;

of-way line of State Farm Market Highway 1942, a distance of 6,960 feet
to a point 10 feet West of the Easterly right-of-way line of the Southern
Pacific Railroad, the 10 feet being measured perpendicular to the Easterly
right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad;
THENCE, in a Southerly direction, 10 feet from and parallel to the Easterly
right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 3,580 feet
to a point on the existing City limit line for corner;
THENCE, in an Easterly direction along the existing City limit line, a
distance of 10 feet to the Easterly right-of-way line of the Southern
Pacific Railroad, and the POINT OF BEGINNING.
Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall
be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall
bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the
inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all
the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regula-
tions-of
egula-tions of the City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This.ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner
provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
