AMENDMENT OF BOND ORDINANCE
THE STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF HARRIS f
The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in
regular session at the regular meeting place within said city on
the 29 day of January, 1948, with the following members pre-
sent, to -wit:

n the following busiriess was transacted:
Councilman Davis introduced an ordinance and
ved its adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Williams and.carrfted by the following vote:
YES: Mayor Cleveland, Councilmen Williams, s, Carlton, Davis,
Strickland: NOES: None. The ordinance thus adopted follows:
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING
THE ISSUANCE OF ONE HUNDRED.THIRTY THOUSAND DOL-
LARS,(W0,000:00) PARK-IMPROVEMENT BONDS OF-THE
CITY OF PELLY; PRESCRIBING_THE_TERMS AND CO1fDI-
TIONS_THE_REOF; AWARDING SALE THEREOF; LEVYING
TAXES_ IN PAYMENT OF-PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST THERE-
ON;. REPEALING THOSE,PORTIONS OF.ALL.ORDINANCES
INCONSISTENT THEREWITH; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, at an election held in the City of Pelly, Texas,
Dn November 8, 1947, more than a majority of the duly qualified
sident electors of said city who owned taxable property within
Said city and who had duly rendered the same for taxation, voting
it said election, voted in favor of the issuance of the bonds of

said city in the amount of One Hundred Thirty Thousand Dollars

130,000.00) for the purpose of constructing and improving a
swimming pool, parks and playgrounds in and for said city; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Pelly, Texas
passed an ordinance on December 4, 1947 authorizing the issuance
of said bonds prescribing the terms and conditions thereof; award-
ing sale thereof; levying taxes in payment of principal and inte-
rest thereon; and declaring an emergency; and said ordinance was
amended by an ordinance of the City Commission of the City of
Pelly, Texas dated January 15, 1948, to which reference is made
for all purposes; and
WHEREAS, there was held within the City of Pelly,Texas
on January 24, 1948, an election on the question of adopting a new
Charter for the City of Pelly, Texas under the terms of which said
City of Pelly", Texas would thereafter be known as the "City of
Baytown ", Texas and the governing body of said city would be known
as a "City Council" instead of a "City Commission "; and
WHEREAS, said election resulted in the adoption of said
city Charter with the consequent change of the name of such city
to "City of Baytown ", Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas
desires at this time to amend the bond ordinance originally passed
on December 4, 19+7 by the City Commission of the City of Pelly,
Texas and which was amended on January 15, 1948 by said governing
body, so as to substitute the name of the "City of Baytown ". Texas
in lieu of the name "City of Pelly", Texas as set-.out in said above
mentioned bond ordinances ;.. Therefore

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAY-
That the bond ordinance passed by the City Commission of
the City of Pelly, Texas on December 4, 1947, authorizing the issu-

ance of One Hundred Thirty Thousand Dollars ($130,000.00) City
of Pelly.Park Improvement Bonds, Series 1947, and amendment on
January 15, 1948 by the governing body of said city be and the
same is hereby amended in the following respects:
Section 1: That there shall be substituted for the words "City of
Pelly, Texas" and "City of Pelly" the words" "City of Baytown,Texast
and "City of Baytown ", respectively, wherever said words appear in
said bond ordinances of December 4, 1947 and January 15, 1948.
Section 2: That "there shall'be substituted for the words "City
Commission" the words "City Council" wherever said words appear
in said bond ordinances-of December 4, 1947 and January 15, 1948•
Section 3: That there shall be substituted for,the words "City
Secretary" the words "City Clerk" wherever said words appear in
said bond ordinances above referred to.
Section 4: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas
does hereby ratify, adopt, confirm and approve all the terms and
provisions of said bond ordinances of December 4, 1947 and January
15, 1948, as amended herein.
This ordinance shall become effective upon passage by
the City Council.
