A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION
TO THE HOUSTON URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASI) FOR
FURTHER SUBMISSION AND APPROVAL AND MANAGEMENT BY THE
OFFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, STATE OF TEXAS, ON BEHALF OF THE
BAYTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED
FIFTY-SEVEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX AND 84/100
DOLLARS ($157,936.84) FOR (I) DETECTORS AND KITS FOR THE TYPE I
HAZMAT TEAM PRE -INCIDENT PREVENTION AND PROTECTION
OPERATIONS AND (II) SHORING AND RESCUE TOOLS AND
EQUIPMENT FOR THE TYPE II STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE AND RESCUE
TEAM FOR POST -INCIDENT RESPONSE AND RECOVERY OPERATIONS;
AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY
GRANT AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING
FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to
make application to the Houston Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for further submission
and approval and management by the Office of the Governor, State of Texas, on behalf of the
Baytown Police and Fire Departments in the amount of ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-SEVEN
THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX AND 84/100 DOLLARS ($157,936.84) for the
following:
Fire HazMat Equipment $127,500.00
Fire SC -TRT Equipment $30,436.84
Total $157,936.84
Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized
representative for all purposes under the grant.
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to
accept or affirm any grant award that may result from the above application.
Section 4: That in the event of loss or misuse of the grant funds, the City Council of
the City Baytown hereby assures the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, that such grant
funds will be returned in full.
Section 5: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
