A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR THE FYI BODY -WORN
CAMERA GRANT PROGRAM TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE
GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION (CJD) ON BEHALF OF THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING A CASH MATCH IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY -THREE THOUSAND SEVEN
HUNDRED SEVENTEEN AND 75/100 DOLLARS ($23,717.75);
DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE; ASSURING
PROPER USE AND MAINTENANCE OF GRANT FUNDS; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, the FYI Body -Worn Camera Grant Program is administered by the State
of Texas, Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division ( "CJD "); and
WHEREAS, the goal of the CJD is to provide funding to improve public safety and
support victims of crime by addressing system gaps and promoting innovative solutions to
common problems; and
WHEREAS, the grant monies, if awarded, will be used by the Police Department to
equip 110 front -line officers with body -worn cameras as well as the requisite accessories
required for the cameras to be functional; and
WHEREAS, the Body -Worn Camera Grant Program requires a 25% match which will be
sourced through the Baytown Crime Control and Prevention District (CCPD); NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to
submit an application for the FY16 Body -Worn Camera Grant Program to the State of Texas,
Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division on behalf of the Baytown Police Department
in the amount of SEVENTY -ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY -THREE AND 25/100
DOLLARS ($71,153.25).
Section 2: That pursuant to the terms of the grant referenced in Section 1 hereof, the
City Council of the City of Baytown hereby authorizes a cash match in an amount not to exceed
TWENTY -THREE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED SEVENTEEN AND 75/100 DOLLARS
($23,717.75).
Section 3: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized
representative of the City of Baytown for all purposes under the grant, including the acceptance,
affirmation, rejection, alteration, or termination of any grant award that may result from the
above application.
Section 4: That in the event of loss or misuse of the Criminal Justice Division grant
funds, the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby assures the Criminal Justice Division of
the Office of the Governor, State of Texas, that such grant funds will be returned to the Criminal
Justice Division in full.
Section 5: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
