Ordinance No. 511• ORDINANCE ND, 511 AN ORDINANCE OFFICIALLY CHEATING THE AUXILLIARY POLICE DEPARTmEn HERETOFORE EXISTING IN THE CTTY OF BAYTOWN; PLACING IT UNDER THE PROPER AUTHORITIES AND MORE CLEARLY DEFINING TTS STATUS; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ORDIN- ANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, there now exists in the City of Baytown, an Awdlliary Police Department, which is under the jurisdiction of the Baytown-Civil Defense Corps; and 0 _. TM RR , it is deemed advisable to officially recognize and create such organization, to place it under the proper authorities and to more clearly define Its status; NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1: That there is hereby and herewith created an organization within this City which shall be known as THE BAYTOWN AUXIILIARY POLICE DEPARTMENT. That such organization will be an arm of the regular Baytown Police Department and shall function under and be responsible to the Chief of the Baytown Police Department. That the Auxilliary Police Department and its members shall have no official power unless and until the Chief of the Baytown Police Department, or his duly authorized ® representatives, shall make a special request that the Auxilliary Police Department and /or its members undertake some particular task or tasks. That members of the Auxilliary Police Force, in the performance of the duties which they are asked to perform, shall have the same Police Powers as the members of the regular Police De- partment, consistent with the laws of this State and the City of Baytown. Section 2: Savinas Clause._ In the event any section, sub - section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance shall be declared or adjudged invalid or uncon- stitutional, such adjudication shall in no means effect any other sections, sub- sections, sentences, clauses or phrases of this Ordinance, but all the rest hereof shall be in full force and effect just as though the section, sub- section, sentence, • clause or phrase so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not original- ly a part thereof, I• I• lu I0 1 • Section 3: Repealing Clause._ All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent or in conflict with the - provisions of this Ordinance shall be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 4: Effective Date. -_ This Ordinance shall take effect from and after the date of its passage by a majority of the City Council of the City of Baytown.
