AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 1067, INTRODUCED ON
THE 20TH DAY OF JANUARY, 1971, AND BEING, "AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND
ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section l: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of the
City Charter, said Ordinance No. 1067, introduced to the City Council
of the City of Baytown, on the 20th day of January, 1971, in its original
form shall read as follows:

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND
ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City
of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an
opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following
described property, to -wit:
A ten foot wide strip situated in the State of Texas, County of
Chambers, and being located in the John Ijams Survey A -15, John
Steel Survey A -227, Christian Smith Survey, A -22, J. Armstrong
Survey A -2, William Bloodgood Survey A -4, lying wholly within
the right of way of Farm Market Road 1405, Farm Market Road 565
and State Highway No. 146, said 10 foot wide strip being more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point on the existing city limit line of the City
of Baytown, said point being located in the easterly right of way
of State Farm Market Road No. 1405 aprpoximately 186.43 feet north
of the northerly right of way line of former McKinney Road which is
now a private road owned and maintained by U. S. Steel Corporation;
THENCE, from said point of beginning along the said easterly right
of way line of Farm Market Road No. 1405, in a northerly direction
a distance of approximately 31,500 feet to a point in the northerly
right of way line of Farm Market Road 565;
THENCE, in a westerly direction along the northerly right of way
line of Farm Market Road 565 an approximate distance of 500 feet
to a point in the easterly right of way line of State Highway
No. 146;
THENCE, in a northeasterly direction along said easterly right of
way line of State Highway No. 146 an approximate distance of
18,200 feet to a paint in the existing City of Baytown city limit
line on the southerly right of way line of Interstate Highway No.
10;
THENCE, in a westerly direction along the existing Baytown city
limit line a distance of 10 feet to a point;
THENCE, in a southwesterly direction parallel to and 10 feet west
of the easterly right of way of State Highway No 146 a distance
of approximately 18,210 feet to a point 10 feet south of the
westerly projection of the northerly line of Farm Market 565;
THENCE, in an easterly direction parallel to and 10 feet south
of the northerly right of way line of Farm Market Road 565, an
approximate distance of 500 feet to a point 10 feet westerly of
the northerly projection of the easterly right of way line of
Farm Market Road No. 1405;
THENCE, in a southerly direction parallel to and 10 feet west of
the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road 1405 an approximate
distance of 31,490 feet to a point in the existing Baytown City
limit line;
THENCE, in an easterly direction along the existing Baytown city
limit line a distance of ten feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
was held at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City
Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 7th day of January, 1971, which
date is not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days, prior
to the institution of annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a news-
paper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in
the above described territory on the 23rd day of December, 1970, which
date is not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the
date of such public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas,
on the 1st day of January, 1971, was 16,242.956 acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is
approximately 50,000 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extra-
territorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and

WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and
adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and territory
lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby
added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory
hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the boundary
limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such
City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described,
are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate
limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit:

THENCE, in a southerly direction parallel to and 10 feet west of
the easterly right of way line of Farm Market Road 1405 an approximate
distance of 31,490 feet to a point in the existing Baytown City
limit line,
THENCE, in an easterly direction along the existing Baytown city
limit line a distance of ten feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.
Section 2: The above described territory and the area so
annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property
so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the
City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled
to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be
bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City
of Baytown, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in
the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City
of Baytown, Texas.
