Ordinance No. 785-AORDINANCE NO. 785 -A AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 785, INTRODUCED THE 10TH DAY OF MARCH, 1966, AND BEING, " AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXA- TION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 2.424 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN." PROVIDING FOR THE FINAL PASSAGE OF SAID ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE I. SECTION 9, OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN: Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of the City Charter, said Ordinance No. 785, introduced to the City Council of the City of Baytown, on the 10th day of March, 1966, in its original form shall read as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 785 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 2.424 ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS. WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the following described territory, to -wit: ANNEXATION of a two mile strip extended Northeasterly along the South- easterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad from the point of intersection with the existing City of Baytown limit line on the Southern right -of -way line of Route 73 (Interstate Highway No. 10), containing 2.424 acres. BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully described as the intersection of the South right -of -way line of State Highway No. 73 (Interstate Highway No. 10) and the Southeasterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad; THENCE, in a Northeasterly direction along the Southeasterly right -of- way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10,555.34 feet to a point for corner; THENCE, in a Northwesterly direction, perpendicular to the Southeasterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10 feet to a point for corner; THENCE, in a Southwesterly direction 10 feet from and parallel to the Southeasterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10,564.66 feet to a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown; THENCE, in a Southeasterly direction along the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, a distance of 11.05 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING. was held at 6 :30 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 24th day of February, 1966, which date is not more than twenty days nor less than ten days prior to the institution of annexa- tion proceedings; and WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Baytown, Texas, and in the above described territory on the 18th day of February, 1966, which date is not more than twenty nor less than ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; and WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the first day of January, 1966, was 15,169.85 acres; and WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas, is 34,423 inhabitants; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas; and WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; and therefore, WHEREAS, the above described territory contains 2.424 acres; now BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: The following described land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall here- after be included within the boundary limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City, at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas, to -wit; ANNEXATION of a two mile strip extended Northeasterly along the South - easterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad from the point of intersection with the existing City of Baytown limit line on the Southern right -of -way line of Route 73 (Interstate Highway No. 10), containing 2.424 acres. BEGINNING at a point on the existing City limit line of the City of Baytown, said point being more fully described as the intersection of the South right -of -way line of State Highway No. 73 (Interstate Highway No. 10) and the Southeasterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad; THENCE, in a Northeasterly direction along the Southeasterly right -of- way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10,555.34 feet to a point for corner; THENCE, in a Northwesterly direction, perpendicular to the Southeasterly right -of -way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a distance of 10 feet to a point for corner; THENCE, in a Southwesterly Southeasterly right -of -way distance of 10,564.66 feet of the City of Baytown; THENCE, in a Southeasterly of the City of Baytown, a BEGINNING. direction 10 feet from and parallel to the line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, a to a point on the existing City limit line direction along the existing City limit line iistance of 11.05 feet to the POINT OF Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas, and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Baytown, Texas. Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the Charter of the City of Baytown, Texas.
