AN ORDINANCE CONTAINING ORDINANCE NO. 1104 -1, INTRODUCED
ON THE 6TH DAY OF JULY, 1971, AND BEING, "AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT
TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS." PROVIDING FOR THE FINAL PASSAGE OF
SAID ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE I, SECTION 9, OF THE
CHARTER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That pursuant to Article I, Section 9, of
the City Charter, said Ordinance No. 1104 -1, introduced to the
City Council of the City of Baytown on the 6th day of July,
1971, in its original form shall read as follows:
ORDINANCE NO. 1104 -1
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AND
THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY, WHICH SAID
TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of
the City of Baytown, Texas, where all interested persons were
provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed an-
nexation of the following described property, to -wit:
BEING a 152.9977 acre tract out of the Christian
Smith Survey A -69 and the David McFadden Survey
A -591, Harris County, Texas, and being northeast
of the City of Baytown, Harris County, Texas, and
being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the northwest corner of Kings Bend
Section One, said point also being the inter-
section of the west line of Kings Bend and the
centerline of Carys Bayou;
THENCE, northwest and upstream along the center-
line of Carys Bayou to its intersection with a
line established by partition deed between John
Beezley and E. B. Pickett, Jr., recorded in
Volume 2114 at page 708 of the Harris County
Deed Records, Harris County, Texas;
THENCE, South 80014'8" West with the above -
mentioned Pickett Beazley partition line to its
intersection with an extension of the E. B.
Pickett west line and the Martin east line;
THENCE, north 15039'2" west a distance of 1167.66'
to the most southerly east corner of a tract
owned by W. L. Jenkins;
THENCE, South 8103'31" west a distance of 2400.76'
to a point for corner;
THENCE, north 27049'8" east a distance of 1647.38"
to a point in the centerline of Carys Bayou;
THENCE, southeast with the centerline of Carys
Bayou to its intersection with the north line of
the W. L. Jenkins tract;
THENCE, north 80033113" East with the north line
of the above mentioned Jenkins tract a distance
of 1331.11' to a point for corner;
THENCE, south 8042'10" east a distance of 607.96'
feet to a point for corner;
THENCE, south 80019' west a distance of 197.15 to
a point for corner;
THENCE, south 15039'2" east a distance of 839.90'
to a point for corner;
THENCE, north 75023'53" east a distance of 505.46'
to a point for corner;
THENCE, south 6802217" east a distance of 438.57'
to a point for corner;
THENCE, south 11026'13" east a distance of 363.52'
to a point for corner said point also being situated
in the aforementioned Pickett and Beazley
line;
THENCE, north 80014'8" east with the Pickett and
Beazley partition line a distance to its inter-
section with the west bank of Cedar Bayou;
THENCE, southeast with the west bank of Cedar Bayou
to its intersection with the north bank of Carys
Bayou;
THENCE, South 81041'55" west a distance of 153.20'
to a point for corner said point also being the
northeast corner of Kings Bend Section One being
a point in the existing City limits of the City of
Baytown;
THENCE, northwest with the north line of Kings Bend
Section One also being the north line of the ex-
isting City limits of the City of Baytown to the
POINT OF BEGINNING enclosing a tract of land con-
taining 152.9977 acres more or less.
was held at 7:00 o'clock p.m. in the City Council Chamber of
the City Hall of the City of Baytown, Texas, on the 27th day
of May, 1971, which date is not more than twenty (20) days

nor less than ten (10) days, prior to the institution of
annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published
in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Bay-
town, Texas, and in the above described territory on the 10th
day of May, 1971, which date is not more than twenty (20) nor
less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public hearing;
and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of
Baytown, Texas, on the lst day of January, 1971, was 16,242.956
acres; and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Baytown, Texas
is approximately 50,000 inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within
the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Baytown, Texas;
and
WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent
to and adjoins the City of Baytown, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and
territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the City of Baytown,
Texas, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Baytown,
Texas, and the said territory hereinafter described shall
hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the City
of Baytown, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such
City, at the various points contiguous to the area herein-
after described, are altered and amended so as to include said
area within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown, Texas,
to -wit:

to a point for corner said point also being the
northeast corner of Kings Bend Section One being
a point in the existing City limits of the City of
Baytown;
THENCE, northwest with the north line of Kings Bend
Section One also being the north line of the ex-
isting City limits of the City of Baytown to the
POINT OF BEGINNING enclosing a tract of land con-
taining 152.9977 acres more or less.
Section 2: The above described territory and the
area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Baytown, Texas,
and the property so added hereby shall bear its pro rata part
of the taxes levied by the City of Baytown, Texas, and the
inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights and
privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts,
ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the City of Baytown,
Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be published and
passed in the manner provided in Article 1, Section 9 of the
City of Baytown, Texas.
