2005 05 12 CC Minutes, EmergencyMINUTES OF THE EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN May 12, 2005 6:30 p.m. The City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, met in emergency session on May 12, 2005, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber of Baytown City Hall with the following in attendance: Ronnie Anderson Council Member Sammy Mahan Council Member Don Murray Council Member Mercedes Renteria III Council Member Scott Sheley Council Member Sheryl G. Ward Council Member Calvin Mundinger Mayor Gary M. Jackson City Manager Ignacio Ramirez, Sr. City Attorney Gary W. Smith City Clerk The meeting was opened with a quorum present, after which the following business was conducted: Consider Proposed Ordinance No. 050512 -1, approving an emergency contract for the repair of a 12" water line. The emergency or urgent public necessity requiring this meeting is the immediate action necessary to repair a failing 12" water line that was reasonably unforeseeable and poses and imminent threat to the public health. The failing line is under water near Highway 146 and West Main Street. The line has two clamps on it and presently has positive pressure. The line is cast iron and may fail. If pressure is lost on the line, the line will fill with brackish water from Goose Creek. Troy Construction, L.L.P., has offered a bid to replace the line for a total price of $30,712.50. They will require forty -eight hours to mobilize. The work replacing the line should begin on Monday, May 16, 2005. Council Member Murray moved approval of the proposed ordinance. Council Member Anderson seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Members Anderson, Mahan, Murray, Renteria, Sheley, and Ward. Mayor Mundinger. Nays: None. The motion carried. Page 2 of 2 Minutes of the Emergency Meeting — May 12, 2005 ORDINANCE NO. 10,062 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS, AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE SUM OF THIRTY THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED TWELVE AND 50 /100 DOLLARS ($30,712.50) TO TROY CONSTRUCTION, L.L.P., FOR THE REPAIR OF A 12" WATER LINE NEAR MAIN STREET AND HIGHWAY 146; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Adjourn. Council Member Anderson moved that the meeting adjourn. Council Member Renteria seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Council Members Anderson, Mahan, Murray, Renteria, Sheley, and Ward. Mayor Mundinger. Nays: None. The motion carried.
