All members were present. The Pledge of Allegiance, Texas Pledge, and Invocation were led by Council Member Jacob Powell. 1. CITIZEN COMMENTS Mayor Brandon Capetillo announced no citizens signed up to speak. 2. RECOGNITIONS AND CITIZEN COMMUNICATIONS a. Present a proclamation designating June 22,2024 as International Day of Yoga. Mayor Brandon Capetillo announced International Day of Yoga will take place on June 22, 2024 and presented the proclamation to City of Baytown Indian Community. 3. REZONE REQUEST AT 2700 NORTH MAIN STREET a. Conduct a public hearing concerning a request to amend the official zoning map to rezone approximately 0.11 acres at 2700 N. Main Street, from Mixed Residential at Low to Medium Densities (SF2)to a General Commercial(GC) Zoning District. MANAGER'S REPORT City Manager Jason Reynolds presented the Manager's Report: • The neighborhood cleanup event was a joint effort involving Planning and Development Services, Stormwater, Traffic Control, and Solid Waste. Cleanup activities took place in Middletown, Pelly, and West Baytown. Teams of two collected trash and debris on the roadways, filling over 14 bags. Additionally, around 30 loads of trash and 38 tires were dropped off at 1200 Lee Drive. • Stephany Medina, Outreach Specialist for Community Development, recently graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor' s Degree in Marketing. He received the award for his focus on training and innovation, including starting the CDL Driver's Training Program, Safety Rodeo,Heavy Equipment Operator's Course, Preventative Street Maintenance Pro- gram and Leader In Training Program. Congratulations, Kevin! • Public Works and Engineering(PWE) received a call about the amazing job PWE did re- moving trees after the most recent storm.The resident said they cut down a tree on Saturday and the city had it pick up hours later. He said he knows that we are slammed throughout the City from cleanup efforts,but he is truly appreciative of how quick we responded. • The City of Baytown recently received recognition from judges in two different award programs.The National Association of Government Communicators awarded the City with the 3rd place award for the Baytown Breakdown video series, and the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers awarded the City with the 1st place award for the Bay- town Breakdown series and the 3rd place award for the Baytown Voice magazine. Con- gratulations on the well-deserved awards from our Public Affairs team! • Every year the Baytown Summer Track Program hosts a Local Track Meet and this, year it was on June 6th at Lee High School. One of the volunteers wrote in and said, "This was such a fun uplifting event for me and my kids to volunteer in. Can't wait to do it again next time! "Love to hear our volunteers wanting to come back and serve our Baytown commu- nity. Thanks for all your work!" 10. COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICT REPORT b. Receive a report from Council Member Jacob Powell regarding projects, programs and events in District No. 5. Council Member Jacob Powell reported the current projects, programs and events of District 5: Parks& Recreation • Tennis Lessons have been moved to Hollaway Park, from Pirates Bay, during their summer season. There's plenty of parking at Hollaway Park, as well as restrooms and bleachers that were added to the Tennis Court area for spectator's convenience. Summer 2 Youth Tennis les- sons are full with 34 participants. Registration for the next session will open on June 16th and are available through the Parks and Recreation's web site. • 10-12 Volunteers from Covestro were at Hollaway Park on Wednesday, June 12th to spread fresh mulch on the playground. This project was also a clean-up event, as part of the Adopt-a- Spot Program. • D5's Barkuloo Park's and D2's Pelly Park's new shade structures are complete. Bonus: Information regarding the 911 markers at the Jenkins and Hollaway Parks! • There are around 30 signs along the trail at Jenkins and Hollaway Parks with 3 words to be given to a 911 dispatcher in case of an emergency along the trail.
