2006 05 22 FCPEMSD Minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TEMPORARY BOARD OF THE BAYTOWN FIRE CONTROL, PREVENTION AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DISTRICT May 22, 2006 6:00 p.m. The regular meeting of the Temporary Board of the Baytown Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District (FCPEMSD)met in the Council Chamber of the City of Baytown with the following in attendance: Sammy Mahan Vice Chairman Scott Sheley Secretary Brandon Capetillo Temporary Board Member Mercedes Renteria III Temporary Board Member Don Murray Temporary Board Member Calvin Mundinger Chairman Gary M. Jackson City Manager Bob Leiper Deputy City Manager Kelvin Knauf Assistant City Manager Ignacio Ramirez, Sr. City Attorney Lorri Coody Assistant Secretary Temporary Board Member Anderson was absent. Call to Order The meeting was opened by Chairman Mundinger with a quorum present at 6:15 p.m. Approval of the Minutes for: • The Special Session of the FCPEMSD held March 7, 2006. • The Regular Meeting of the FCPEMSD held March 9, 2006. Temporary Board Member Capetillo moved to approve the minutes as presented. Temporary Board Member Renteria seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Temporary Board Members Capetillo, Renteria, Murray and Sheley Vice Chairman Mahan Chairman Mundinger Nays: None Page 2 of 3 Minutes of the FCPEMSD Temporary Board Regular Meeting—May 22, 2006 Canvass the returns of the confirmation election of the Baytown Fire Control,Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District held on May 13, 2006. Pursuant to Section 321.405 of the Texas Tax Code, the Temporary Board of the Baytown Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District conducted the official canvass of the votes cast for and against the proposition of the confirmation election held on May 13, 2006. The results were as follows: Race Title Canvass Totals Baytown Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Proposition 1: The creation of the Baytown Fire Control,Prevention,and Emergency Medical Services District dedicated to fire safety and emergency medical services and the adoption of a proposed local sales and use tax at a rate of one- eighth of one percent 1/8% . For 1529 Against 653 Total 2182 Consider Proposed Resolution No. 060522-1, declaring the results the confirmation election of Baytown Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services District and declaring the District created. Temporary Board Member Capetillo moved to approve the Resolution as presented, declaring the results of the confirmation election of the Baytown Fire Control, Prevention, and Emergency Medical Services district and declaring the District created. Temporary Board Member Murray seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Temporary Board Members Capetillo, Renteria, Murray and Sheley Vice Chairman Mahan Chairman Mundinger Nays: None The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 4 A RESOLUTION OF THE TEMPORARY BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN FIRE CONTROL, PREVENTION, AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DISTRICT DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CREATION AND TAX ELECTION OF THE BAYTOWN FIRE CONTROL, PREVENTION AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DISTRICT; DECLARING THE BAYTOWN FIRE CONTROL, PREVENTION, AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES DISTRICT CREATED; MAKING FINDINGS RELATED THERETO; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
