1986 08 20 BAWA Minutes 411 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY August 20, 1986 The Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority, Harris County, Texas , met in regular session on Wednesday, August 20, 1986, at 2401 Market Street, Baytown City Hall Conference Room, with the following attendance: Robert L. Gillette, President Dan Mundinger, Vice President . Peter R. Buenz, Secretary A. S. Rome, Board Member Absent: Knox Beavers, Board Member The meeting was called to order with a quorum present; afterwhich the following business was transacted: Consider Minutes for the Meeting Held July 16, 1986 Board member Buenz moved for approval of the minutes for the meeting held on July 16 , 1986; Board member Mundinger seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes : Board members Buenz , Gillette, Mundinger and Rome Nays: None Consider Approval of Final Payment To Baytex Construction for Lagoon Cleaning Herb Thomas, Plant Manager, reported that Baytex Construc- tion had successfully completed the cleaning of the Center Sludge Lagoon; he verified that the job was performed in a satisfactory manner and recommended final payment . Board member Buenz moved to authorize final payment to Baytex Construction for cleaning of the Center Sludge Lagoon; Board member Rome seconded the motion. The vote follows : Ayes: Board members Buenz, Gillette, Mundinger and Rome Nays : None 411: 410 Hear Plant Manager' s Report Ground Storage Tank - Tank Builder' s Inc. has reported to the Plant Manager that the dresser couplings will be received the week ending August 22, and the schedule provides for the work to culminate on the last day of September. The construction has been delayed for about one month because of changes in engineer- ing specifications but if the dresser couplings arrive on schedule, the storage tank should be completed by the last day of September. Distribution and Water Quality - For the month of July, the plant averaged 10. 8 million gallons per day. The peak day in July was 13 . 1 million gallons . For the first 18 days of August, . the plant averaged 10. 9 mgd. The turbidity for July was . 09, and for the first 18 days of August, turbidity was . 08 . Mr. Thomas noted that the objective of the plant is not to exceed . 10. Herb Thomas, Plant Manager, Commended - President Gillette commented that Mr. Thomas had presented the program at the Chamber of Commerce last Friday and that he did an excellent job. Randy Strong, City Attorney, commented that the Environ- mental Committee of the Chamber of Commerce has scheduled a tour of the facility in October.
