In response to an inquiry from the Board concerning lead
solder on copper tubing, the plant manager recommended flushing
of the water lines after non-use for a period of time.
Retention on Angleton General Mechanical Contract - There
were two parts to the Angleton General Mechanical Contract. One
part was the line down Thompson Road, while the other part was a
line down Lynchburg Cedar Bayou Road. The company completed the
line down Thompson Road, and the Baytown Area Water Authority
accepted that line and put it in service. Upon acceptance of the
line by Baytown Area Water Authority, Angleton General Mechanical
was paid for that portion. Angleton General Mechanical repre-
sentatives appeared before the board on numerous occasions
requesting release of the retention, but the board never approved
• that release. The total contract amount was $2 , 280, 000. The
settlement agreement has been executed by all three parties .
EPA Recognition - The Environmental Protection Agency will
recognize one water plant for operating excellence in June.
Anyone may recommend a public water system for this recognition.
The employees of the Baytown Area Water Authority are putting
together information to submit the Baytown Area Water Authority
as a candidate.
