1998 01 21 BAWA Minutes• • MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY January 21, 1998 The Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority, Harris County, Texas, met in regular session on Wednesday, January 21, 1998, at 7425 Thompson Road, in the BAWA Conference Room with the following in attendance: Robert L. Gillette, President Dan Mundinger, Vice President Peter R. Buenz, Secretary Knox Beavers, Board Member Roy L. Fuller, Board Member The meeting opened with a quorum present, and the following business was conducted. Consider Approval of Minutes for the Regular Meeting Held on December 17, 1997 Board Member Bunz moved for approval of the minutes for the regular meeting held on December 17, 1997. Board Member Beavers seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Board Members Beavers, Buenz, Fuller, Gillette, and Mundinger Nays: None Consider Award of Annual Cationic Polymer Contract Eight bids were received which included one no bid. The administration recommended award of the contract to the low bidder, Allied Colloids, at $ .2590 per pound. Based on an estimate of 350,000 pounds, for a total of $90,650. Board Member Beavers moved to award the bid to Allied Colloids. Board Member Mundinger seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Nays: Board Members Beavers, Fuller, Gillette, and Mundinger None For bid tabulation see Attachment "A." 980121-2 • Minutes of the BAWA Meeting — January 21, 1998 Consider Award of Annual Zinc Polyphosphate Contract Five bids were received which included two no bids. Upon review, the two low bidders did not meet specifications. One product had no zinc and the other product was the same form used at the plant two years ago which had too high of zinc content. Therefore, the administration recommended the third bidder, Technical Products, at $ .6250 per pound, for a total of $62,500. Board Member Buenz moved to award the bid to Technical Products. Board Member Fuller seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Board Members Beavers, Fuller, Gillette, and Mundinger Nays: None For bid tabulation see Attachment "B." Manager's Report Superior Water Status — Both the City of Baytown and Baytown Area Water Authority have received Superior Water Status from the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission. The requirements for surface water treatment are very stringent. TxDOT will post signs on all main highways into the city. TNRCC will inspect the facilities annually. The City and BAWA must pass this same rigorous inspection to maintain the "Superior" status. Texas Water Plan — The Harris County Mayors' and Councils' Association will be appointing a representative to the Texas Water Plan Development Committee. Board Member Fuller's name has been placed in nomination supported by La Porte, Baytown and Deer Park. Adjourn There being no further business to be transacted, the meeting was adjourned. Robert L.
