1999 11 17 BAWA MinutesMINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY November 17, 1999 The Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority, Harris County, Texas, met in regular session on Wednesday, November 17, 1999, at 7425 Thompson Road, in the BAWA Conference Room with the following in attendance: Dan Mundinger, Vice President Knox Beavers, Board Member Roy L. Fuller, Board Member Absent: Robert L. Gillette, President Peter R. Buenz, Secretary The meeting opened with a quorum present, and the following business was conducted. Consider Approval of the Minutes for the Regular meeting Held October 20, 1999 Board Member Beavers moved to approve the minutes for October 20, 1999; Board Member Fuller seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Nays: Board Members Beavers, Fuller and Mundinger None Consider Approval of the Minutes for the Special meeting Held October 28, 1999 Board Member Beavers moved to approve the minutes for special meeting held on October 28, 1999; Board Member Fuller seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Nays: • Board Members Beavers, Fuller and Mundinger None 7-2 Minutes of the BAWA Meeting — November 17, 1999 Consider Award of Ferric Chloride Contract The staff recommended award of the annual ferric chloride contract to Genesis Chemical for approximately 500,000 pounds at $ .14187 per pound or $70,935. Nine bids were mailed out. Six competitive bids were received and one no -bid. Board Member Fuller moved to award the contract to Genesis Chemical for $.14187 per pound based on approximately 500,000 pounds. Board Member Beavers seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Nays: Board Members Beavers, Fuller and Mundinger None For bid tabulation. See Attachment "A." Plant Manager's Report a. Discuss Effects of Drought -.Fred Pack, Utilities Director for the City of Baytown, reported that even with the drought conditions, there has been no curtailment from the City of Houston of the raw water supplying BAWA. BAWA gets its raw water from the Trinity River which has always been an excellent source. From October 1, 1999 through November 16, BAWA had averaged 11.3 mgd. Herb Thomas, Plant Manager, noted that BAWA never had experienced a curtailment. He mentioned the completion of the Wallisville Reservoir and its capacity to further withhold fresh water from going into the Gulf of Mexico.
