2000 09 20 BAWA Minutes• • MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BAYTOWN AREA WATER AUTHORITY September 20, 2000 The Board of Directors of the Baytown Area Water Authority, Harris County, Texas, met in regular session on Wednesday, September 20, 2000, at 7425 Thompson Road, in the BAWA Conference Room, with the following in attendance: Robert L. Gillette, President Dan Mundinger, Vice President Peter R. Buenz, Secretary Knox Beavers, Board Member The meeting opened with a quorum present, and the following business was conducted. Consider approval of the minutes for the meeting held on August 16, 2000 Board Member Mundinger moved to approve the minutes for the meeting held on August 16, 2000, with the correction showing him absent. Board Member Buenz seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Board Members Beavers, Buenz, Gillette, and Mundinger Nays: None Consider revision of the water conservation/drought contingency plan Fred Pack stated that in October 1995 the Board passed a Water Conservation Plan, which included a section on drought contingency. He said the TNRCC has requested that all water districts review their drought contingency plan to include more detail. BAWA's revised drought contingency plan was presented to the Board a copy of which is attached to and made a part of these minutes. Board Member Buenz moved to approve the plan. Board Member Beavers seconded the motion. The vote follows: Ayes: Board Members Beavers, Buenz, Gillette, and Mundinger Nays: None 20000925-2 Minutes of the Regular Session — September 20, 2000 Receive report from Camp, Dresser & McKee relating to the ozone study Rodney Chapin presented the report from Camp, Dresser & McKee on the plant expansion. The work on plant expansion is being managed by Erick Miller and is ahead of schedule. The Phase II ozone testing is completed and the report design underway. Reliability issues have been moved to Phase III. Another report will be made at the next meeting. Manager 's Report Tony Brown spoke on the need for the current plant expansion in capacity since the previous month set a record of 15.7 mg/day. The first 19 days of September had an average flow of 14.87 mg/day for a yearly average of 11.88. Mr. Buenz commented that with the stories of rationing and shortages elsewhere, it was good to hear about BAWA's ability to provide.
