A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN TO ACCEPT A GRANT IN AN ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF
FIFTEEN THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($15,000.00), FOR A TOTAL
GRANT AWARD OF NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($95,000.00), FROM THE NATURAL RESOURCE TRUSTEE PROGRAM
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BAYTOWN NATURE CENTER
OYSTER REEF RESTORATION AND SHORELINE PROTECTION
PROJECT; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE;
ASSURING PROPER USE AND MAINTENANCE OF GRANT FUNDS; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, on September 12, 2019, the City Manager of the City of Baytown accepted
a grant in the amount of EIGHTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($80,000.00) from
the Natural Resource Trustee Program for the construction of the Baytown Nature Center Oyster
Reef Restoration and Shoreline Protection Project; and
WHEREAS, engineers have determined a change in design is necessary to maximize
efficacy in the project location; and
WHEREAS, an additional FIFTEEN THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($15,000.00) in grant funds has been procured from the Natural Resource Trustees for additional
design and engineering studies; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept
a grant in an additional amount of FIFTEEN THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($15,000.00), for a total grant award of NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($95,000.00), from the Natural Resource Trustee Program for the construction of the Baytown
Nature Center Oyster Reef Restoration and Shoreline Protection Project.
Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative
of the City of Baytown for all purposes under the grant, including the acceptance, affirmation,
rejection, alteration, or termination of any grant award that may result from the above
application.
Section 3: That in the event of loss or misuse of the grant funds, the City Council of the
City of Baytown hereby assures the Natural Resource Trustee Program that such grant funds will
be returned to the Natural Resource Trustee Program in full.
Section 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
