A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE
HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FOR THE FY2014 U.S. DEPARTMENT
OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM (HSGP) ON BEHALF OF THE
BAYTOWN FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF THIRTY-SEVEN
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($37,500.00) FOR THE
PURCHASE OF FIFTY (50) ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE KITS TO ENHANCE
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S RESPONSE CAPABILITIES DURING A TERRORIST
EVENT INVOLVING AN ACTIVE SHOOTER; AUTHORIZING THE
REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY GRANT AWARD THAT MAY
RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make
application to the Houston -Galveston area Council for the FY2014 U.S. Department of Homeland
Security Grant Program (HSGP) on behalf of the Baytown Fire Department in the amount of THIRTY-
SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($37,500.00) for the purchase of fifty
(50) active shooter response kits to enhance the fire department's response capabilities during a terrorist
event involving an active shooter.
Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for
all purposes under the grant.
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept or
affirm any grant award that may result from the above application.
Section 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately
